All three artistic faculty are conducting orchestra rehearsals and performing in the Tango for Today Gala Concert.

Events

Masterclasses for full participants consist of three morning sessions of intensive, interactive tango performance technique instruction on your own instrument by our artistic faculty. Discover the traditional language of tango and learn how to apply it in contemporary music. Auditors are able to observe the classes only, without instruments.

The three Orchestra Rehearsals take place in the afternoons. Be a part of the TFTS Orchestra and premiere exciting new works of contemporary tango. Rehearsals are for full participants, who will perform in the Gala Concert. Auditors are welcome to observe without instruments.

Experience world-famous Lectures by Ignacio Varchausky on the essential styles of tango and how they live on in contemporary music. The lectures precede various concerts and milongas in the city and are open to full participants, auditors, and a la carte ticket holders.

Learn how to write for bandoneon in the Writing for Bandoneon workshop by master bandeonist and educator Eva Wolff. The workshop is open to full participants, auditors, and a la carte ticket holders. Attendees may submit a score in advance for consideration at the workshop.

The Chamber Music Society of Mississauga Concert (featuring dancers Tarek Marroushi and Estie Spivakov) and the Tango for Today Gala Concert are pay-what-you-can events. The Dance Workshop, led by Carlos Boeri and Alison Murray, precedes the Gala Concert and is free and open to all.

The Film Screenings, Music at Mid-day Concert, and Closing Panel are free and open to all.

Locations

All masterclasses, orchestra rehearsals, dance and bandoneon workshops, film screenings, and the gala concert are at York University in the Accolade East Building, which is a 2 min. walk from the York University subway station.

Lectures precede evening concerts and milongas at various locations.
