Sarah Lahasky
Double Bass
Sarah Lahasky is a double bassist located near Minneapolis, MN. She received her BM in Classical Double Bass Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory under the guidance of Dr. Donovan Stokes. Sarah later developed a love for tango music while studying abroad in Argentina, which greatly influenced her repertoire and playing style. Sarah currently performs with the Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet, Kingfield Orquesta Típica, and Solidaridad Tango. An active music scholar, Sarah is the current editor of the International Society of Bassist’s peer-reviewed journal, Online Journal of Bass Research and former Assistant Editor of Latin American Music Review. She holds an MM and PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of Texas at Austin, and her current research focuses on the impact of gender on musical work in Argentina. In addition to playing bass, Sarah is an Assistant Professor of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, where she teaches courses in musicology and ethnomusicology.
